Malaya, Sarawak, 1896 (3 Nov), combination piece with 1895 2c brown-red, perf. 12 1/2, tied by Sarawak CDS and 1892-1899 Straits Settlements 8c ultramarine with Singapore CDS 'No 9, 96', (paying international postage), this with minor stains with part Paris CDS in red at left; together with another combination piece with 1871 3c brown/yellow, perf. 11, tied by Sarawak CDS '28 Jan 81' to a Straits Settlements 10 cents /12c ultramarine (SG 45), tied by cancel in transit at Singapore (Straits Settlements stamps were required on overseas mail); this is a scarce and attractive item and an early usuage of the Straits Provisional.
