Julia Mamaea, mother of Severus Alexander, (222-235 A.D.), silver denarius, Rome Mint, (3.02 g), obv. Diademed and draped bust of Julia Mamaea to right, IVLIA MAMAEA AVG around, rev. VENVS GENETRIX around, Venus, standing facing head to left, holding apple and sceptre; at feet, before her Cupid standing right with hands raised, (S.8215, RIC 355, BMC 152-3, RSC 72); Gordian III, (A.D. 238-244), silver antoninianus, (3.67 g), obv. radiate bust right, around IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG, rev. VICTOR AETER, Victory standing to left resting on shield on captive and holding a palm, (S.8662, RIC 154, RSC 348). Nearly extremely fine, first toned. (2)
