Memorial Plaque WWI, named to William George Gosling, in folder cover of issue together with accompanying note from the King. Cleaned long ago and now re-toning, also some oxidation spots, otherwise very fine.
There are two servicemen with this name on the CWGC rolls. Assistant Steward William George Gosling, S.S.Marmion (West Hartlepool), Mercantile Marine, KIA 26Aug1917 at age 16, commemorated at the Tower Hill Memorial, London, England that honours civilian merchant sailors and fisherman killed as the result of enemy action and with no known grave. Also 61287 Corporal William George Gosling, 40th Coy Machine Gun Corps (Infantry), KIA 07Nov1918, commemorated at the Basra Memorial near Zubayr, Iraq that honours those who died during the Mesopotamian Campaign and with no known grave.
