Group of Four: Queen's South Africa Medal 1899, (type 3 reverse), - three clasps - Cape Colony, Transvaal, South Africa 1902; 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19. 1204 Tpr: L.L.Reardon. Aus: Com: H. on first medal, Pte L.L.Reardon Ntl. Light. Hse on last three medals. All medals impressed. Display mounted, the last medal silvered, edge nick on first medal, otherwise fine - very fine.

Lionel Lewis Reardon 1st Bn Aust Commonwealth Horse (Tasmanian half-unit); contingent comprised 3 officers and 59 other ranks; Emb.16Feb1902; Reardon remained in South Africa and enlisted in Natal Light Horse for WWI service.

Natal Light Horse was an irregular South African unit formed by Colonel J.R.Royston in August 1914. A full roster of 600 men was recruited within ten days with many Australians who had served under Royston during the Anglo-Boer War joining up.
