H.J.Simper S.A.M.R. on first medal, T-Captain H.J.Simper. A.I.F. on last two medals. First medal engraved, the other medals impressed. Toned, good very fine.

Hector John Simper, carpenter and builder, born at Ballarat, Vic; served in Boer War with South Australian Mounted Rifles and two years with Transvaal Volunteers (resigned); WWI: Enl.11Aug1915 at Adelaide, Sth Aust; Emb.10Feb1916 with 14 Reinfts 3LHR; TOS 1LHR 08Mar1916; TOS 24 Howitzer Bde 110 Bty 06Apr1916; Tfr to DAC 18Apr1916; to Lieut 01Aug1916; TOS 11FAB 24Jan1917; WIA 06Jun1917 shell shock, France, resulted in the practical loss of sight in one eye; to T/Capt 06Jan1919; performed duties of Education Officer 01May-13Jun1919; assumed duty of Education Officer 14Jun1919; RTA 18Dec1919; Appt terminated 28May1920; Died 08Mar1941 and buried 10Mar in the AIF Cemetery, West Terrace, Adelaide, Sth Aust.
