RAOB (Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes), Lodge 210 New Guinea, Attendance jewel, 1937, appears to be handcrafted in silver with enamel, reverse inscribed, 'R.A.O.B. G.A.B./Pres. To/Bro. A.E.Spence/by/Lodge New Guinea 210/For Attendance/1937', with ring top suspension and stick-pin suspension bar with enamel, also clasps affixed to ribbon, appear to be in silver but the first inscribed on reverse '9ct', first clasp inscribed, 'Attendance New Guinea 210', second clasp inscribed, 'Lodge New Guinea 210 For Attendance 1940'. Good very fine.
Mr A.E.Spence was a representative for Burns, Philp & Co Ltd, agents. At the first annual general meeting of the Morobe Turf Club held 18 May 1934 at the Hotel Bulolo he was elected Clerk of Scales. It was also reported in the Cairns Post on Monday 23 May 1938, p3, that Mr A.E.Spence of Wau, who had spent 17 years in the Mandated Territory was a passenger to Sydney by the W.R.C. Express airliner, Carminia, arriving in Australia on the previous Saturday. It was further reported in the Papuan Courier on Friday 8 July 1938 that he had departed for Wau on July 1 via Mandated Airlines.
