The Merinds inherited the western part of the Almohade patrimony, comparable to modern Morocco. They struck in silver and gold for several denominations. The era of the Merinds was from A.H. 642 - 869 (1244 - 1465). The last ruler was Abu Mohammed 'Abd al Haqq II who issued the first of the two coins above.
