Irene, (797-802), gold solidus, Syracuse mint, (3.83 g), obv. bust facing of Irene wearing crown and holding cross on globe and cruciform sceptre, around **[EIR]INH **BAS[IL]ISI, rev. same type as obverse, around [NH] BASIL [IS], (S.1602, BMC -, DOW 1cCf). Mint state and extremely rare.
