Pair: Military General Service Medal 1793 - three bars - Pyrenees; Nivelle; Toulouse. Waterloo Medal, Leut Geo MacLeod Baynes, Royal Foot Artillery. Impressed. Bars loose on MGS. Buckle on ribbon of second medal which also has a straight bar suspender. Slight edge knocks, otherwise generally very fine.

'Lt Baynes served in the Peninsula from Sept 1812 to the end of the war in 1814, was present at the Battles of Pyrenees (30 July, 1813) Nivelle and Toulouse for which he has received the war medal with these clasps. He also served in the Campaign of 1815 and was present at the Battles of Quartre Bras and Waterloo. At these battles he served in Capt Sandham's Brigade which is claimed to have fired the first rounds by the allied artillery at Waterloo.' Second Lt 4 April 1807 - Lt February 1808 - Captain 1 August 1827 - retired half pay 25 Sept 1834 - died at Guernsey 28 October 1874.
