Sicily, Syracuse, Philistis wife of Hieron II (275-215 B.C.), silver sixteen litrai, struck c.218/7-215 B.C., (13.68 g), obv. diademed and veiled bust of Philistis to left, behind eight pointed star, rev. slow quadriga to right driven by Nike with horses walking, above **BASILISSAS, to right K, below **FILISTIDOS*, (S.989, SNG ANS 881, SNG Ash.2109). Bright, very minor cleaning marks, otherwise extremely fine or better and rare.
