Description

Australia, Free Pardon handwritten to a William Douglas, with seal affixed, signed by Richard Bourke as Lieutenant Governor of NSW, on 22nd July 1837, signed and sealed in Sydney at Government House. Fine and very rare as a handwritten pardon.

This pardon provides a description of his career from his arrival in 1820 on the Coromandel, to further convictions of burglary and other offences which resulted in him receiving additional life sentances and a further problem for 'mutiny' on the brig Wellington which was conveying him to Norfolk Island. Obviously a document requiring further research on this person.
