Group of Four: Queen's South Africa Medal 1899 (type 2 reverse) - two clasps - Transvaal, South Africa 1902; 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19. 5761 Corpl: G.Graves. Lincoln:Regt on first medal, 1 W.O.(Cl.1.) G.Graves. 11/Bn. A.I.F. on second medal, 2/Lieut. G.Graves. A.I.F. on third and fourth medals. All medals impressed. All ribbons shortened, the first medal with some small edge nicks and bumps and some scuffing, otherwise very fine.
George Graves, soldier, age 32, born at Brothertoft, Boston, Lincolnshire, England; Enl.18Aug1914 at Blackboy Hill, WA (Service No.1, first man on the roll for 11Bn Western Australia), with previous service of 8 years with 1Bn Lincolnshire Regt, 5 and a half years on Indian unattached list, and 4 years with Administrative & Instructional Forces; Trf from Instructional Staff to 11Bn 18Aug1914; Emb.31Oct1914; To hospital with rheumatism 19Jun1915 at Gallipoli; Emb.15Aug1915 for invalid return to Australia for a change; Returned to duty 25Jan1916; Appt 2Lieut RFC 08Aug1916; Appt to RFC terminated 06Dec1916; Died 19Aug1960.
