Bank of New South Wales, one hundred pounds share certificate, No 17, Sydney 8th day of August 1818 in the name of William Redfern Esquire, signed by J.T.Campbell, President; D'Arcy Wentworth and Thomas Wylde, Directors, entered by the cashier F(rancis) Williams, in folio 17. The earliest known share certificate from Australia's first bank. Very fine and extremely rare, a most important example of early Australiana.

On the back 'Endorsed over to Mrs Sarah Redfern 17th October 1821 Wm Redfern. Bank Transfer 19th Octr 1821. Nick Bayley/Recieved Sixty Pounds Sterling (?60Stg) out of the Bank Stock on account of the written share/Wm Redfern', red ink rubber stamp, Coleman P.Hyman. Col H.B.Lassetter 17.9.1902 in pencil.
