E.Howard Watch Company 'Howard' was founded by Edward Howard in 1858. He was primarily concerned with the making of high quality and precision watches made to the order of the purchaser. Howard produced some very fine pocket watches and certain 'perfect' models were sold with a certificate stating 'This watch shall not be sold to anyone designated by the company as objectionable'. This watch was one of the last of the top grade models which was manufactured two years before the company closed in 1930. Howard simply closed down rather than sell and allow the name to be turned into a mass producer of other than the very best watches.
