Persian Imperial Coinage, Kingdom of, Darius I, (521-486 B.C.) or later ruler, silver siglos, (5.56 g), issued 500-485 B.C., obv. king as bearded archer kneeling to right with spear and bow, banker's mark below, rev. oblong incuse punch, (S.4678, Carradice Type IIIa, 14-15); another, (5.21 g); Italy, Lucania, Metapontum, (c.335-330 B.C.), silver stater, (6.80 g), obv. bearded Corinthian helmeted head of Leukippos to right, lion head behind, rev. ear of corn, to right [MET]A, to left club erect over leaf, [AMI] below, (S.415, Johnston [NN&M 164] Class B.2.31, SNG Ash.728); Thrace, Island of, Thasos, (after 148 B.C.), barbarous silver tetradrachm, (16.66 g), obv. weak struck head of young Dionysos wearing ivy wreath to right, rev. naked Herakles standing facing head to left, holding club and lion skin, around **HPAKLEOUS SWTHROS QASIWN, to left in field monogram MH, (cf.S.1759, cf.BMC 67-78, cf.SNG Cop. 1049). Toned, poor - nearly very fine, the tetradrachm holed. (4)
