Group of Five: 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19; War Medal 1939-45; Australia Service Medal 1939-45. 883 Pte A Ward 3 L.H.R. A.I.F. on first and third medals, 883 Pte A.Ward. 3/L.H.Rgt. A.I.F. on second medal, S2818 A.Ward on last two medals. All medals impressed. Display mounted, first three ribbons damaged, otherwise fine - very fine.

Together with Returned from Active Service badge (AIF); wrist band ID disc in shape of map of Australia and inscribed in four lines, '883/A.WARD/1.BDE:M.G.S./A.M.D', and at left corner 'A.I.F.' and right corner 'C.E.'.

Arnold Ward, driver, age 18, born at Mt Barker, South Australia; WWI: Enl.04Dec1914 at Oaklands, Sth Aust with 2 months service in 81Bn Senior Cadets; Emb.01Apr1915; TOS 1LHR at Heliopolis 01Mar1916; TOS MGSqn 1 LHBde at Romani 18Jul1916; Trf to 2 Camel Corps 10Mar1917; TOS Imp Camel Corps Bde at Abbassia 10Mar1917; TOS X Res Depot Egyptian Expeditionary Force 11Apr1917; between June and Feb1918 spent much time ill in hospital with bilharziasis, an infectious parasitic disease, and in between posted to Red X for duty; RTA 15Feb1918; Disch.03May1918; WWII: Enl.09Apr1941 in CMF at Wayville, Sth Aust; Disch.26Jan1944 as L/Sgt ex DRO; Died 16Jul1969.
