In many records the abovenamed I(saac) D(uncan) Armitage is recorded as J.D.Armitage. In a newspaper report of the annual reunion dinner of the naval contingent held in 1913 one of those from the contingent who was present is recorded as Rev. J.D.Armitage. During the afternoon before the dinner, the contingent committee attended the Town Hall and placed a wreath on the tablet commemorating the despatch of the contingent and Rev. Armitage delivered a brief address.

On Thursday 21 December 1905, Isaac Duncan Armitage had been advanced into the Holy Order of Priests by the Anglican Archbishop of Sydney in an ordination ceremony at St Andrew's Anglican Cathedral, Sydney. He later was curate at various parishes some of which included Rookwood and Auburn, Sutherland, Cronulla, Emu Plains, Campbelltown, Blaxland and Newtown. He died in 1970.

The Armitage Lecture Series was inaugurated at Shore School (Sydney Church of England Grammar School) in 2005 to remember the first Old Boy of the school who entered the ordained Anglican Ministry. Rev. Armitage left funds in trust to provide a small bursary for Old Boys of Shore who entered Moore College to study theology.
