Julius Caesar, (assasinated 44 B.C.), (c.49-48 B.C.), silver denarius, mint moving with Caesar, (approx 3.85 g), obv. elephant to right trampling on serpent, CAESA[R] in exergue, rev. simpulum, sprinkler, axe and priest's hat, (S.1399, Cr.443/1, Syd.1006, Julius Caesar 49). Off centre on obverse and reverse, lightly toned with traces of mint bloom, good very fine or better and very scarce.
