Sultans of Delhi, Jalalatu-D-Din Raziya, (634-637 A.H., 1236-1240 A.D.), silver tankah, (10.8 grams), Laknauti mint, date 635?, obv. three line legend, (In the time of the Iman Al Mustansir, the commander of the faithful), rev. five line legend, (The mighty Sultan Jelalat ud din Wa ud din, the Queen, the daughter of the Sultan Altamsh, the beloved of the Commander of the faithful), (Wright 161C, Hull 99, Rajgor 879). Off centred on the obverse, with poor reading of edge, otherwise very fine and very rare.

Raziya is the only Sultan of Delhi who was a queen, the daughter of Iltutmish and nominated by him to be the queen, She ruled four years and was quite active in war and politics. The nobles could not accept a woman as ruler so she was killed.
