Description

Norman Kingdom of Sicily, Ruggiero II (in Amalfi? as Gran Conte), (A.D. 1105-1154), gold tari, (0.87 grams), issued 1127-1130, obv. central letter R. in circle, Arabic script around, rev. cross with dots above and below, Arabic script around, (Spahr -, CNI XVIII, Plate 1, 9, No.3 [p.6]). Weak in places, otherwise very fine and very rare.

The ticket accompanying this coin indicates Roberto Guiscardo (1077-1085) is incorrect and the issue as described in CNI actually belongs to Ruggiero II.
