Paul Edmund Strzelecki, important Polish explorer of Australia, (undated) 1988, in bronze (69mm), obverse, profile of Strzelecki with map of Australia behind, reverse, Sydney Opera House in the centre with Australian coat-of-arms below, issued for 200 years of Australia. In case of issue, uncirculated.
Sir Paul Strzelecki conducted important exploration, geological and scientific work in New South Wales, Victoria and Van Dieman's land during the period 1839-1843. He ascended Australia's highest mountain and named it Mt Kosciuszko in honour of the Polish democratic leader. He became a British citizen in 1845.
