Parthia, Kingdom of, Phraataces and Musa, (2 B.C. - 4 A.D.), silver tetradrachm, (12.17 grams), Seleucia mint, obv. head to left with short beard, wearing spiral torque, trace of Nike before and legend around, date **DIT, rev. Queen Musa bust to right, legend around 'Goddess, Urania Musa, Queen', date **PC, (cf.S.5760, cf.Sellwood 58.X, cf.Shore 323 [date variant). Good very fine and very rare apparently unpublished.
This issue was struck to commemorate the marriage of Queen Musa, the slave girl, to her son Phraataces, who succeded to the throne after both had murdered his father and her husband. A most important issue the tetradrachm and the next two drachm lots are rarely offered at auction.
