Charles Sydney Green, labourer, born 15Jun1909 at South Melbourne, Vic; Enl.06Jun1940 at Caulfield, Vic in 2/14Bn; his brother, William Albert Green also enlisted on same day at same place, also in 2/14Bn; Emb.19Oct1940; both brothers reported WIA in the Argus newspaper, Melbourne, 27Jun1941, p5 (this would have been when the 2/14Bn saw action against the Vichy French in Syria in June and July 1941), Pte C.S.Green WIA 12Jun1941 shrapnel to back during the attack on Zahrani River; to 2/7 AGH; rejoined unit 13Jul1941; RTA and Disemb.28Mar1942 at Adelaide, Sth Aust; Emb.28Aug1942 from Brisbane to Port Moresby; several trips between NG & Aust and several cases of AWL; to ops at Balikpapan 21Jun1945; RTA 12Nov1945; Disch.29Nov1945 as Private ex 2/14 Aust Infy Bn; mentioned twice in The Second Fourteenth Battalion: a history of an Australian infantry battalion in the Second World War by W.B.Russell.
