R.A. on second medal, naming expertly erased on last medal. Named medals impressed. Hairlines, otherwise good very fine.

China War (Boxer Rebellion): Able Seaman 1st Class Willian Nicholls Batson served on HMS Protector; Emb.06Aug1900 from Port Adelaide for Hong Kong via Sydney, Brisbane and the Philippines; Arrived 10Sep1900 at Hong Kong and placed under command of Royal Navy and to patrol and dispatch duty to Woosung, Shanghai, Taku and Wei Hai Wei; Emb.06Nov1900 from Hong Kong for Port Melbourne; participated in Commonwealth Celebrations in Sydney 01Jan1900; Arrived 06Jan1901 at Adelaide; WWI: William Nicholls Batson, labourer, age 43, born at Liverpool, England; Enl.16Oct1916 at Adelaide, previous service of 7 years with Royal Navy and 3 years with Australian Navy; Emb.09Nov1917; served as Gunner with 4th Aust D.A.C. in France; RTA 15Jun1919; Disemb.30Jul1919; Disch.23Aug1919; Died 16Jan1939 at his residence, 9 Poole St, Osborne, South Australia.
