Entitled to Victory Medal 1914-19.
Edwin Boothroyd Bond, Minister of religion, age 35, born at Malmsbury, Vic; son of the local preacher and school teacher, Rev.Thomas Bond, he was educated by his parents; took a position under the Home Mission Society at Koroit and from there accepted as a candidate for the Ministry; entered Queen's College and after two years study was appointed probationary Minister to Sandringham in 1908, then Wodonga and to South Preston in 1911; he was ordained a full Minister in Mar1912 and stationed at Elmore and then Bendigo; served 12 months as Chaplain at Bendigo Army Camp; Enl.16Mar1917 at Bendigo in AIF and appointed Captain Chaplain (4th Class); Emb.16Jul1917; Disemb.25Aug1917 and to Salisbury Plains, England; to 10 Training Bn 10Sep1917; to France 15Jan1918 and Rouelles Base Depot; served in France and Flanders with 3FAB from 07Mar1918 including Amiens, Villers Bretonneux and the advance on the Hindenburg Line; RTA 28Feb1919; Disch.17May1919; one of his appointments post war was to the Launceston South Methodist Church in Tasmania; he was transferred from the Army Reserves to Retired List 12Apr1934.
