Queen's South Africa Medal 1899, (type 3 reverse), - three clasps - Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal. 31679 Tpr: D.McPherson. Scottish Horse. Impressed. Very small edge bump, nicely toned, good very fine.

Purchased privately in August 1978.

D.McPherson was related to Dugald McPherson a Scottish pioneer and settler who arrived in Victoria in 1840. Bungeeltap Homestead at Mt Egerton, Ballan, was originally settled by Cowle and Stead in 1838 and acquired by Dugald McPherson in 1854. In about 1863 he erected a two-storey Gothic style stone house there. Although the property had the top storey removed in 1922 it is still on the Heritage Listing of the National Trust.
