The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, Officer (OBE type 2) (military), in Royal Mint case of issue and with original bestowal document with impressed seal of the Order and signed by Queen Elizabeth II, document named to Eric Francis Langley Esq Wing Commander in Our Royal Australian Air Force. Document and case with foxing, medal extremely fine.

Eric Francis Langley, born 1910 at Melbourne, Vic; educated at Melbourne Grammar School and then graduated in medicine at Melbourne University in 1933 (MRCS) and in surgery in England in 1939 (FRCS); joined RAF in 1939 and served in several postings before returning to Australia with his wife in 1941 and then joined RAAF as Flight Lieutenant; to Squadron Leader in 1942; to Wing Commander in 1943 and posted to New Guinea where he was lauded for his surgical skills and dedication to his work; RTA in 1944 and posted to Concord RAAF Hospital; demobilized in 1945 and appointed to staff of Royal North Shore Hospital; RAAF Hospital moved from Concord to RAAF Base Richmond and Langley continued as visiting surgeon attending weekly; awarded OBE (Military) in 1963 for his tireless service to the RAAF; died on 15Oct1971.
