Paeonia, Kingdom of, Patraos, (c.340-315 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (13.00 grams), obv. head of Apollo to r., with laureate, rev. horseman spearing fallen enemy, who holds spear and shield, around **P [O] AR[TA]U, (s.1520, Paeonian Hoard 468-472 [same dies], SNG ANS 1040 [same obverse die]). Obverse and reverse off centred, otherwise extremely fine and a very scarce type.
Ex. Paeonian Hoard and the Jay Dawley Collection $$ The Sotheby sale of the Paeonian hoard (London, 16th April, 1969, lot 468-472), had only six examples of this type which came from the same dies.
