Egypt, Kingdom of, Ptolemy II, (285-246 B.C.), AE 42, (65.99 g), Alexandria mint, issued 263-2 B.C., obv. diademed head of Zeus Ammon to right, dotted border, rev. two eagles to left with closed wings, standing on thunderbolt, in front cornucopiae, around **BASILEWS [PTOLEMAIOU]*, between first two legs TY monogram, dotted border, (cf.S.7783, Sv. 504, SNG Cop. 150, Koln 23-4); another Ptolemy IV, (221-205 B.C.), AE 35 drachm, (30.05 g), Alexandria mint, issued 246-221 B.C., obv. diademed head of Zeus Ammon to right, rev. eagle to left with closed wings, standing on thunderbolt, in front cornucopiae, around **BASILEWS PTOLEMAIOU* between legs XP monogram, (illustrated) (cf.S.7814, Sv.965, SNG Cop. 173-5, Pitchfork 31); Ptolemy III, (246-221 B.C.), AE 19, copper hemiobol, (4.70 g), Alexandria mint, obv. diademed head of Zeus Ammon to right, rev. eagle to left, on thunderbolt, closed wings, XP monogram between, (S.7814, Sv.964, SNG Cop. 171-2, Pitchfork 30); another very similar with open wings AE 16, (2.46 g), (cf.7784, cf.Sv.418, SNG Cop.166). Fair - nearly very fine. (4)
