Syria, Decapolis, Pella, Commodus, (177-192 A.D), issued A.D. 183-4, AE 26, (17.28 g), obv. laureate, cuirassed and draped bust to right of Commodus, around **AY KOMMO ANTWNEINOC*, rev. tetrastyle temple, housing Apollo standing right, naked except for cloak hanging from left shoulder and arm, holding bow in left hand and arrow downward in right hand, around **PELLAIWN*, SMC in exergue, (S.-, Spijkerman 8 corr, SNG ANS -, same obverse die as Gemini VI [2010] lot 760). Attractive brown patina, nearly very fine and very rare.
