Macedon, Roman Provincial issue, (c.90-75 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, issued under Quaestor Aesillas, (16.64 g), Thessalonica mint, obv. head of Alexander the Great to right, with horn of Ammon and flowing hair, [MAKE**DONWN]*, **Q* behind, rev. AESILLAS / Q above, club between money chest and quaestor's chair, all within olive wreath, (S.1463, BMC 81-3 [p.19], McClean 3716-7 [p.86, Pl.138,11], Weber 2253 [p.94, Pl.87], Winterthur 1658-9 [Pl.73-4], SNR Bauslaugh dies 27/- [p.51, notes 1 specimen from this obverse die, Pl.6], SNG Cop. 1328-1330 [Pl.34]). Grey tone, nearly extremely fine and scarce.
