Italy, Bruttium, Kaulonia, (460-450 B.C., Kraay chronology), silver stater, (7.95 g), obv. Apollo naked walking to right with branch, before him a small stag standing to right, looking back, KAV behind upwards, rev. stag standing to right, (S.462, SNG Cop. 1705 [same dies], Naville XVI [lot 309 from the same dies], Noe 64 [same dies]). Very fine, weakly struck as are all 4 known examples, very rare.

Ex Dr. V.J.A. Flynn Collection and previously from Noble Numismatics Sale 107 (lot 3238) and from Classical Numismatic Group, 1998 with CNG ticket.
Noe notes that this rare series with this die combination is known for four examples and three of these are in public collections.
