Italy, Lucania, Metapontum, (c.300 B.C.), silver stater or nomos, (7.71 g), obv. Demeter head wearing corn wreath to right, rev. ear of corn, META upwards to left, plow to right, M[AN] below leaf, (S.416, Johnston NN&M 164 series C1.1.2-1.70 [similar dies], cf.SNG ANS 473). Rough obverse surface, otherwise fine.
