Port Purvis, Purvis Bay, is an anchorage in the Florida Islands (aka Nggela Islands), a group of islands in the central province of the Solomon Islands and which was used as a U.S. seaplane base and a watering point for the U.S. Navy during WWII. U.S. Navy ships lost in the vicinity include seven cruisers and fifteen destroyers.
USS Leedstown was a Windsor-class attack transport. She was involved in the invasion of the Marshall Islands, Guam, Pelelius, Leyte, Luzon and Iwo Jima.
