Description

New Zealand Masonic Lodge Victory No.40, vintage pair of leather, material and silver braided gauntlets/cuffs with each bearing the silver bullion embroidered jewel of Director of Ceremonies with Lodge Victory No.40 N.Z. around; another identical pair but each has attached a voided handcrafted silver jewel for Chaplain with Lodge Victory No.40 inscribed around. Nearly extremely fine. (2 sets)

Lodge Victory No.40 is in the Nelson Marlborough District. It is now called The Victory-Wakatu Lodge No.40.

Director of Ceremonies is responsible for the smooth flowing of ceremonial and ritual events and may hold rehearsals. In some jurisdictions, he directs proceedings during the installation of a new Worshipful Master and he is also responsible for forming processions and introducing visitors.

The principal duty of the Chaplain is to lead prayers before and after the lodge meeting, and to say grace while the lodge is at dinner. It is not required that the Chaplain be a clergyman, as prayers are non-denominational.
