Syria, Coele-Syria, Chalkis ad Libanon, Octavian, (issued 31-30 B.C.), AE 20 (6.46 g), issued with Zenodorus, tetrarch and archereus, obv. bare head of Octavian right, NE to left, L B**PS* (date) in right field, rev. mostly present ZHNO**D*OROY TETPAPXOY KAI APXHPE**W*S, bare head of Zenodorus left, (S.5899, Sear Imperators 929, RPC I 4774; cf.SNG Cop.417, Lindgren 2136, Oxford AMC 866). Dark patina, good very fine, mostly clear legends, rare.

Ex Dr. Adrian Carr Collection and purchased from Guy Clark, in 2002.
Zenodorus, son of Lysanias, was awarded the tetrarchy of Chalcis by Octavian following the downfall of Cleopatra and Antony at Actium. This coin is dated B**PS* = year 282 of the Seleucid era.
