Maximianus, (A.D. 286-305), silver argenteus, Trier mint, issued A.D. c.295-7 (3.05 g), obv. laureate head of Maximianus to right, around MAXIMIA NVS AVG, rev. around VIRTVS MILITVM, A in exergue, the four princes or tetrarchs sacrificing over tripod before gate with six turrents and open door, C in exergue, (cf.S.13098, RIC 109b, RSC 622b). Lightly toned, extremely fine and rare.
