A. Plautius, (c.55 B.C.), silver denarius, Rome mint, (3.89 g), obv. Cybele turreted head to right, A. PLAVTIVS before, AED CVR S.C. behind, rev. Bacchus kneels to right with camel at his side, with olive branch, [BA]CCHI[VS] in exergue, [IV]DAEVS on right, (S.395, Cr.431/1, Syd.932, B.Plautia 13). Lightly toned with golden highlights, good very fine and very scarce.

Ex Noble Numismatics Auction Sale 99 (lot 3493), previously from Spink & Son with their ticket.
The reverse depicts the Jewish high priest Aristobulus who was in Rome at the time held captive by Pompey.
