Thessaly, Larissa (under Macedonian domination), (370-360's B.C.), silver drachm, (6.02 g), obv. facing head of nymph Larissa three-quarter to left, rev. horse and foal standing to right, above **LAPISAI, [WN]* downwards on right, (S.2122, See Leu 7 [9 May 1973] 157 = Hess - Leu [11], 24 March 1959, 181, see also M+M FPL 209 (March 1961) 9 (both from the same pair of dies), BCD [Triton XV] lot 295 [same dies, realised $2750 +15% US]). Bright, nearly extremely fine and a very rare variety with a charming reverse type.
