Thrace, Maroneia, (after 148 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.56 g), obv. head of young Dionysos to right, wreathed with ivy and band across forehead, rev. Dionysos naked standing to left, holding grapes and two narthex wands, to right **DIONUSIOU*, to left **SWTHROS, below **MARWNITWN, PAUW* monogram to left, **Q* to right with cental pellet, (cf.S.1635, cf.Schonert-Geiss 1099-1107 [obv. 38 rev. -], cf.ACNAC Dewing 1295 [same obverse die], cf. BMC 59). Good metal, light scratches in obverse field, otherwise extremely fine and rare.
