Thrace, Maroneia, (late 2nd century B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (15.80 g), obv. head of young Dionysos to right, wreathed with ivy, rev. Dionysos naked standing left, holding grapes and two narthex wands, monograms to left and right, around **DIONUSOU SWTHROS MARWNITWN*, (S.1635, Schonert-Geiss 1034-1044 [new dies], Hunter 16 [Pl.25, 20], SNG Fitz. 1732, BMC 58 [p.128]). Very large flan, nearly extremely fine, rare.
