Macedon, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (17.20 g), Byblos mint, issued 330-320 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with dotted border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, AP monogram, to right **ALEXANDROU, (cf.S.6713, Price 3424, BMC 3424a-c, M.-). Well centred, toned, good very fine and scarce.
Ex I.S. Wright, Sydney, November 18, 2009 and noted to come from the collections of Dr Warnock of Sydney and acquired in 1954 from the Sir Reginald Marcus Clark at Lawsons Auction Sydney.
