Description

Syria, Roman Province of Syria, after Seleucid kingdom of Philip Philadelphos, dated by Caesarean era, issued in 23-2 B.C. (year 27), silver tetradrachm, (14.87 g), Antioch mint, obv. head of Philip to right, with diademed, fillet border, rev. Zeus seated to left, on throne holding Nike, ANT (Antioch) monogram to left, ZK (year 27) in exergue, legends left and right **[B]ASILE[WS] FILIPPO[U] [E]PIFANO[US FILADELFOU]*, (S.7215, cf.BMC 7, RPC 4143). Good fine/very fine and rare, only four coins known to RPC authors.
