Attica, Athens, (166-57 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.52 g), issued 130-129 B.C., (Thompson date) but probably 98-97 B.C. (revised chronology), obv. head of Athena Parthenos to right wearing triple-crested Athenian helmet, ornamented with Pegasus, rev. owl standing to right, head facing, in erect posture, on prostrate amphora, Gorgon head to right, M over H on amphora, legend across **A QE*, to left **NI KH-THS, DIO/ NU/ SIOS/ XENO*, **AP over MH* below, all within wreath, (cf.S.2555, cf.Thompson 953 [same obverse die] the month for M over H not listed). Extremely fine and rare.
