Attica, Athens, (166-57 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.77 g), issued 167-6 B.C., (Thompson date) but probably 137-6 B.C. (revised chronology), obv. head of Athena Parthenos to right wearing triple-crested Athenian helmet, ornamented with Pegasus, rev. owl standing to right, head facing, in erect posture, on prostrate amphora, to left Asklepias standing snake on staff,legend across **A QE ME NED/ EPI GENO/ OFELOU, SW* below, **D* on amphora, all within wreath, (cf.S.2555, Thompson 350f [same obverse die], SNG Berry 1930). Toned, slightly off centred, nearly extremely fine and rare.
