Macedon, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver drachm, (4.21 g), 'Colophon' mint, issued 301-297 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with dotted border, rev. Zeus Aetophoros seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, forepart of lion to left over crescent, below throne a pentagram to right ALEXANDROU, (cf.S.6730, Price 1842, BMC 1842a-c, M.358, SNG Cop.909). Well centred, good very fine and rare.
