Description
Italy, Bruttium, Croton (Kroton), (420-390 B.C.), silver stater, (7.52 g), obv. eagle standing to left, on olive branch with open wings, rev. tripod-lebes with neck and three handles, in field to right **D, to left downwards [K]PO, (S.472, ACNAC Dewing 509, SNG Munich 1451, SNG ANS 365, BMC 79). Very fine, flan crack on reverse, attractive grey tone, rare.
It should be noted that it was with this issue that the transition took place with the K in the city name replacing the archaic letter Q (koppa). All known types seem to come from similar or same sets of dies.
