The Hermes Adventure, by Rex Morgan, 1985 1st edition, hard cover with dust jacket, 288pp, with many photos, some in colour, front fly leaf signed by four Morgan family members including the author and his father Charles Morgan ex RNVR Sub-Lt who took photographs in the book; also large photo album with crest of HMAS Perth drawn and painted on the front cover as well as the name, '1939 R.A.Byrnes 1940', inside the front cover is a b&w photo of HMAS Perth and a postcard for World Cruise 1939 that included HMAS Perth, the rest of the album is empty; also an original citation for HMAS Perth Cookery Department dated 30 May 1989. Very fine. (3)

Rupert Arnold Byrnes, born 05Jan1911 at Gunnedah, NSW; joined RAN 02Apr1929 at Albany, West Aust; Disch.25Oct1945 as Able Seaman ex HMAS Lonsdale. His record does not indicate service on HMAS Perth.
