John George Callanan, horse trainer, age 24, born at Moonee Ponds, Melbourne, Vic; Enl.11Oct1915; Emb.20Nov1915; admitted to 3AGH Abbassia with neurasthenia 25Jun1916; invalided to England 07Jul1916 and struck off strength of Remount Unit; TOS No 1 Command Depot 28Aug1916; RTA09Sep1916, arrived 31Oct1916; Disch.15Nov1916 as Medically Unfit.

The 2nd Australian Remount Unit was also the unit of Australian, Andrew Barton 'Banjo' Paterson being commissioned on 18 October 1915 and while serving with the unit was wounded in April 1916.
