Holy Bible, containing Old and New Testaments, printed at Oxford, England by The University Press, 1865, (21.5x28.5cm), pages not numbered but many hundreds, inside fly page written, To Mabel from her Grandmother & Grandfather', inserted throughout the book are four botanical pressed leaves/sprays, and a Cassilis Parish & District Monthly Circular for July 1887 and a Star Pastel Co, Newcastle, NSW 'Order for Frame' promotional slip, 1895; also photo of Mabel Laws; a locket of blonde hair; a photo of Flying Officer Jack Laws. First two fly pages of bible loose, foxing, fine - very fine. (lot)
412979 Flying Officer Jack Laws, RAAF, qualified for Air Gunner badge 25Jun1942; mother Mrs Mable E Laws, Coolah; KIA 20Apr1943 when Hudson A16-197 and A16-183 had a mid-air collision shortly after take off from Millingimbi in an operational flight to carry out an armed reconnaissance of Timoeka in New Guinea. All on board both aircraft were killed. Flg Off Laws was buried on Rabuma Island on 22Apr1943.
